Sheffield last-mile shed comes to market

The developer wants to demolish existing buildings at the Tinsley Bridge engineering works at Europa Link, and replace them with up to 272,000 sq ft of modern warehousing.

Urban Splash, chosen last year to reinvent Sheffield’s landmark former department store, will invite the city’s people inside to view proposals in October.

In the North Yorkshire town that shares its name, the property group has renamed its retail and leisure asset as Square One, while in South Yorkshire it has formed a strategic partnership with Sheffield Technology Parks. 

Flagship stores for Sports Direct and department store Frasers have been created across 100,000 sq ft in the former Debenhams space at the Sheffield shopping centre.

An 8,500 sq ft charity department store will open next week at Sheffield’s Kilner Way Retail Park.

Work on the city’s first Dutch-style roundabout started in April 2023 and is now nearing completion.  

Independent tea company Bird & Blend Tea Co and fast food outlet Pret A Manger are the latest retailers to move into the city’s £480m, 1.5m sq ft scheme.

With an earlier stage of Urban Splash’s project in the running for the RIBA Stirling Prize, phase five, the 105-apartment Talbot Street block, is set to be greenlit.
