National Railway Museum secures £3m funding

A year on from naming the design team, led by P+HS Architects, the NHS Trust has released images of the new facility ahead of the submission of a planning application later this year.

Proposals for the historic pier are supported by £20.2m of funding from the government’s Local Regeneration Fund, alongside council capital investment.

Owned and operated by Supercity, the 46-suite venue has been designed by brown + company to replicate the medieval jettied timber-framed buildings that once occupied the south east side of Micklegate. 

Work has officially started on the redevelopment of the football stadium, marking the beginning of a major expansion project that will increase capacity and support wider economic growth ambitions across the Leeds City Region.

Last year, the then Labour-led Calderdale Council, now controlled by Reform, agreed to accept an offer from Ken Davy, owner of the Huddersfield Giants rugby league team, for the Halifax sports stadium – an agreement that has since collapsed, with Davy claiming his involvement is no longer welcome.
