Leeds Becket to expand medical facilities
Plans have been lodged with the council for the construction of a community diagnostic centre on a car park at the university’s Headingley campus.
Submitted by Imaging Matters, the centre has been designed by architect Stride Treglown.
The building will measure 4,000 sq ft and will include an entrance lobby, waiting area, consulting rooms, changing areas, MRI and CT scanning rooms, and staff changing areas and facilities.
Imaging Matters is working alongside landowner Leeds Beckett University, as the centre is seen as being mutually beneficial, with the aim of having it up and running by January.
The modular building will be constructed off-site by Medular.
Community diagnostic centres have been a key part of the NHS’s strategy to move some elements of care away from hospitals, in a bid to improve waiting times and patient care.
The centre will be able to undertake medical tests, checks, and scans, such as the afore-mentioned MRIs and CTs, as well as blood tests, ultrasounds, and X-rays.
