The UK’s renewed focus on new towns is prompting fresh debate about how to create places that thrive for generations. At a panel session hosted by Place North, industry leaders were tasked with a thought experiment: how would they design a settlement from scratch?

HBC is reworking a former office building into a 36,000 sq ft oncology, haematology, and research centre for client GenesisCare. 

A programme of works will start on Freetown Way from early April to prepare one of the city’s busiest routes for a major investment, bringing a return for dualling in each direction along with off-road cycling provision.

Having received the green light for its section of development back in October, the housebuilder has now started work on the first 314 homes at the 164-acre scheme.

At a panel event hosted by Place North and sponsored by Trowers & Hamlins and Studio Hoodless, leading figures from the development industry in both nations came together to discuss how they are working to deliver on bold visions and create new kinds of cities.
