Lovell begins East Hull housing

The national partnership housing specialist has broken ground on an 84-home phase of its development at the Ings estate, part of a long-term 700-home urban village masterplan.

Fitting into a major regeneration programme at Ings, the development sits off Balham Avenue and will comprise homes for affordable rent and shared ownership, including two-, three-, and four-bedroom houses.

Houses were demolished on Teddington Close and Northolt Close to allow for the new-build development.

The overall Ings project will see delivery of more than 700 homes, and forms part of a strategic long-term partnership between Lovell, Compendium Living, Hull City Council and Together Housing, with funding from Homes England and the government’s Brownfield Land Release Fund.

Having been appointed in 2021, so far the partnership has delivered 400 mixed-tenure homes at the Ings estate with a new neighbourhood park linking directly to the key community green space, Bluebell Fields, creating a modern community influenced by nearby Sutton and Garden Village.

The development will have a central green space with seating, new trees and hedges as well as play areas and safe walking routes.

Alex Isted, who recently joined Lovell as regional managing director, said: “The major regeneration at the Ings estate demonstrates what long-term partnerships can achieve. We look forward to working with Hull City Council, Together Housing, Compendium Living and our valued supply chain partners to successfully deliver this important phase over the next two years, contributing to the long-term regeneration and growth of the area.”

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, portfolio holder for regeneration and housing at Hull City Council said: “It is fantastic to see this new housing development start on site, to deliver 84 much needed affordable homes for the local community. The partnership between the Council, Lovell and Together Housing represents a great opportunity for a high-quality affordable housing scheme to prevail – I’m excited to see the new homes when they are complete.”

Dai Howells, assistant director of development, Together Housing said: “This phase of the Ings regeneration scheme is part of Together Housing’s continued commitment to the transformation of the Ings community.”
