Persimmon set for Wakefield nod
The council is set to approve plans for a 104-home development in South Kirkby on around 11 acres of greenfield land south of Mayfields Way and Parkgate.
The plans will come before the council’s planning committee on Thursday 20 August, and has been supported by JRP Architecture and Lichfields as planning consultant.
The proposed scheme would deliver 103 two-storey homes, comprising 26 four-bedroom, 65 three-bedroom, and 12 two-bedroom properties, with all of the homes for open-market sale, with each property providing private amenity space and off-street parking.
The development would be accessed from Mayfields Way and would include two areas of public open space.
A smaller area would be located near the site entrance, while a larger area would run along the southern boundary of the development.
The site is bounded by Langthwaite Beck to the south and hedgerows to the east and west, with the existing Mayfields Way residential development to the north.
Agricultural land lies to the south and east, while a sports ground containing cricket and football pitches is located to the west.
A public footpath currently runs through the site from north to south, crossing Langthwaite Beck before meeting Broad Lane to the south-west.
The site was previously designated as Green Belt but was removed from the designation through the adoption of Wakefield’s Local Plan 2036.
