Black Cat pounces on Leeds opportunity
The building consultancy has expanded into Yorkshire with an office headed up by Amie McGagh, who will also continue as the firm’s public sector lead.
With established teams already operating across the North West, the move into Leeds will give Black Cat greater depth as it strengthens its reach across Yorkshire and the North East.
The firm said the move will allow it to build stronger local relationships and support more clients on the ground. Founder Stephen Barnes said: “For us, Leeds feels like a natural next step. It’s a confident, ambitious city with a strong commercial property market, major public sector influence and a clear role in the future of the North.
“As investment, regeneration and development continue to move through strong regional centres, Leeds gives Black Cat another important base from which to support clients across the country. It also strengthens our reach across the Pennines.”
Supporting McGagh as Leeds office lead are two colleagues who will be based in the city, both of whom have arrived from Gleeds. Tom Shaw joins as director, while Lucy Chappell comes on board at associate director level.
The pair bring significant experience across public and private sector work, particularly around building compliance and fire regulations, Black Cat said.
Black Cat is based at Kinrise’s 34 Boar Lane in Leeds city centre.
Founded in 2015, Black Cat provides commercial property advice across building surveying, project management, cost consultancy, M&E, fire consultancy, development advisory, sustainability, environmental consultancy and specialist technical services. McGagh joined in 2019 from AHR.
