Leeds set to grenlight Lloyds housing
The application for the demolition of two of its former offices on a seven-acre site in Farsley, to be replaced with 133 affordable homes, will be delivered by Breck Homes if approved.
Originally, 133 homes were proposed on the eight-acre site on Cote Lane.
Planning consultancy Lichfields submitted the application last November on behalf of the Bank of Scotland – part of Lloyds Banking Group – and Breck Homes.
Following discussions with Homes England, the scheme will be the first fully affordable housing estate to come forward through Lloyds’ legacy estate strategy, part of a wider initiative by the bank to repurpose surplus sites for housing.
Known locally as Dawsons Corner, the brownfield site has stood largely empty in recent years and under the new proposals, it will be turned into a mixed community of apartments, maisonettes, terraced, and semi-detached houses.
The recommendation for the meeting on 6 August is to defer the decision to the chief planning officer for approval.
Developed in collaboration with Leeds City Council through pre-application discussions, the project aims to create a sustainable neighbourhood with public green spaces and a children’s play area.
Designed by Nieman Architects, the plans feature three apartment blocks positioned on key corners of the development.
