Bellway submits Brayton plans
Located near Selby, the housebuilder is looking to build up to 170 homes on a 23-acre site to the south of Mill Lane.
Close to the A63, nearly half of the site has been designed to be public open space or wildlife areas, such as woodland, wetland, and wildflower meadows.
Currently, Bellway has suggested that 10% of the housing would be affordable, with a housing mix of two- to five-bedroom homes.
As well as housing, a three-metre footway will be constructed along the south of Mill Lane to provide pedestrian and cycle access to the village of Brayton.
The submission is now with North Yorkshire Council.
Alex Bowling, Bellway Strategic Land manager (North), said: “This land in Brayton is suitable to help address North Yorkshire’s acute need for new housing and the shortfall of sites identified to accommodate new developments in the Selby area…
“Existing trees and hedgerows will be retained where possible and complemented by new planting, with native broad-leaved woodland planting along the southern boundary creating a rich ecological buffer, street trees lining the primary street and new wetland and wildflower areas created.
