Keepmoat and Vistry set for Barnsley nod
Two separate schemes are recommended for approval next week, with the housebuilders looking to add 126 and 214 homes respectively to the borough’s roster.
First up is Keepmoat, which is seeking outline consent for an estate on land north of Keresforth Road in Dodworth.
Applying back in January 2022, Keepmoat had initially planned for 215 homes. The 20-acre site is essentially a thin strip of land in-between the M1 and existing residential, with woodland borders.
Located east of the village, it has been agreed that, due to viability issues, no affordable housing will be provided.
Meanwhile, Vistry is hoping for reserved matters approval on its development of 214 homes on land north of Shaw Lane in Carlton.
Supported by Acanthus WSM Architects, plans for the 20-acre site include public open space, play areas, and landscaping.
Located less that 0.5km from Carlton, the site is bounded by green fields and Barnsley Canal to the north and west, Green Belt and a railway line to the east, and by Shaw Lane to the south.
Barnsley’s planning committee will meet on Tuesday 1 September.
