School’s out for Redstart Robinson

The Yorkshire-based developer has submitted plans for 48 homes on two vacant former school sites in Silsden, Bradford.

The £15m scheme would include the demolition of the Victorian-era buildings, and 10 affordable homes would be provided in total across both plots.

Located on Elliott Street and Hothfield Street, the sites are within walking distance of each other and have been unused for around three years following the opening of a new primary school in the town.

Both sites are allocated for housing in Bradford’s Local Plan, and aligns neatly with the government’s recently announced plans to support SME housebuilders in bringing small, brownfield plots into use.

If approved, work could begin within three months with an expected build-time of between 12-18 months.

Redstart Robinson developments director, Andrew Foggitt, said: “These sites offer an opportunity to provide a well-balanced mix of housing while bringing new life to two long-vacant plots in the heart of Silsden.

“Our proposals align with Bradford Council’s commitment to regenerating brownfield land and meeting local housing needs and, subject to approval, we’re excited to move forward and bring this high-quality development to life for the benefit of the community.”
