Robertson wins place on £1.5bn YORbuild Major Works 2
The contractor has been appointed to Lot 1, covering projects valued between £10m and £30m under the framework, which provides a procurement route for public sector bodies and third sector organisations delivering major building works.
Managed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Leeds City Council, the YORbuild Major Works 2 Framework went live this month and will run for an initial four-year term, with the option to extend for a further two years, subject to YORhub approval.
The framework covers a broad range of projects, including new-build developments, refurbishments, contractor-designed schemes, decarbonisation programmes, maintenance works, and term contracts. Alongside cost and quality, it places a strong emphasis on social value, responsible procurement and the use of regional supply chains.
The latest appointment builds on Robertson’s existing position on the YORbuild3 Medium Works framework, which runs until April 2028 and covers projects valued between £4m and £10m.
Current and recently completed projects delivered through the framework include the £9m construction of a new teaching block at Bingley Grammar School for Bradford Council and a sustainable engineering and science innovation hub at Chesterfield College.
At Chesterfield College, the contractor reported the creation of 28 local full-time jobs and 270 apprenticeship weeks, while prioritising local suppliers.
The contractor is also supporting YORhub’s YOR4Good community fund through initiatives including the creation of a sensory garden at Chesterfield College and improvements to outdoor learning spaces and SEND facilities at Parkside Primary Academy.
The YORbuild Major Works 2 Framework is expected to support the delivery of major public sector construction projects across the region over its lifetime while promoting regional economic benefits through local employment, skills development, and supply chain engagement.
