Plans in for 350 Rotherham homes

Hallam Land has lodged an application to develop a site on the eastern edge of Bramley village, along Moor Lane South.

Nineteen47 is both the architect and planner on the scheme, which sits around four miles from the centre of Rotherham and eight miles from Sheffield.

The 34-acre site comprises two agricultural fields, and is alongside a currently under construction 320-home Redrow scheme, as well as a field that has been designated as protected land.

An affordable housing mix of 25% is automatically applied in Rotherham’s core strategy, or in this case 88 homes.

However, the developer has negotiated a 50% decrease in this number, by promising to deliver affordable bungalows rather than houses.

The planning statement notes that this has been accepted on other nearby developments, given the need for affordable housing for the elderly.
