Asda’s standalone George concept heads to Barnsley
The grocery retailer has selected its 28,000 sq ft store at the Cortonwood Retail Park in the South Yorkshire town as the next spot for its fashion and home offering.
Further rolling out the rebranding of its Asda Living portfolio, the current store will close on 28 June before reopening on 9 July.
The store will offer George’s clothing and home ranges in its new-format with a dedicated character shop for families, upgraded fitting rooms, additional self-service tills, and a streamlined parcel collection service.
Asda first trialled the concept store in its hometown of Leeds last year at its Asda Living 22,500 sq ft unit at Crown Point retail park, before going on to open a second 26,000 sq ft offering in Hull. The Barnsley store will be the sixth in the rollout.
George vice president Karl Doyle, said: “We’re excited to bring our latest stand-alone George store concept to South Yorkshire and give local customers an even better way to shop our fashion and home collections.
“This investment in Barnsley reflects our commitment to continuing to grow the George brand and enhancing the experience we offer customers. We’ve created a modern shopping destination that brings together our best fashion and home ranges in one place, and we look
forward to welcoming shoppers through the doors in July.”
