Construction starts on Rodley waterside estate
A long-awaited 67-home development that gained outline permission in 2019 is underway at the former Airedale Mills site in Leeds.
Developed by Rodley Homes, the scheme was designed by Edward Architects, with ID Planning as consultant and Chartwell Construction as main contractor.
Canal Walk will overlook the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and the River Aire, and is set alongside Rodley Nature Reserve.
Made up of apartments and two-four bedroom homes, the first homes are expected to be completed in 2027, with the overall development scheduled for completion in 2028.
Located a 15-minute drive from the city centre, the scheme received detailed approval in 2023. Prior to construction starting, a swing bridge funded by Rodley Homes was delivered to provide access via Moss Bridge Road.
Kim Linell, sales director at Rodley Homes, said: “After years of planning, it’s fantastic to see construction begin at Canal Walk. This is a site that has stood vacant for decades, so we’re proud to be bringing it back into use and giving it a new future.
