Persimmon plots Kellington homes

The housebuilder has submitted plans for 62 houses on land at Lunn Lane in the North Yorkshire village, which lies about seven miles south of Selby.

The York-based housebuilder also plans to deliver a central children’s play area, two interlinked footpaths through the site, 10% affordable homes, and tree and hedge planting.

Architect JRP, ID Planning, and landscape designer Golby + Luck make up the project team.

Currently, the seven-acre site is a single field to the north west of the village.

The former mining village is home to the grade one-listed Church of St Edmund, with views towards this retained as part of Persimmon’s plans.

Graham Whiteford, Persimmon Yorkshire planning director, said: “We are delighted to bring forward these plans for new homes in Kellington.

“New housing is needed and, in these plans, we are hoping to provide affordable, energy efficient homes for first-time buyers and families alike.”

Oh how nice you make it sound for a lake infested field with floods on every route out the village. It would be more beneficial to plant rice in this price of farm land. We have no infrastructure or local amenities are hourly busses during daylight hours, no shops and the most neglected roads and paths if there are any paths at all. What kellington needs is good refurb because Kellington has nothing to bring more people into. Prospective buyers be warned, many £’s not many benefits. .

I fail to see how the views of St Edmunds church can be retained when you are building 62 houses on a field directly facing it. Another housing development at a totally unsuitable site. Floods frequently, no shop ,bus service is infrequent. Will totally change the look of the village. Very saddened that the local farmer who has grown up in the village and employed many has decided to sell to the highest bidder.
