Leeds set to approve Roundhouse sporting plans
Ollo Padel’s request for a change of use at the disused grade two-listed landmark on Wellington Road will be discussed next week.
Located to the west of the city centre and part of the South Bank regeneration zone, the project team includes planning consultant Nineteen47 and architect firm BHB.
The operator is looking to create a three-acre leisure scheme including the conversion of the existing Roundhouse to provide indoor
and outdoor leisure facilities inclusive of enclosed Padel Courts, a Pickleball court, changing and welfare facilities, and external parking.
Previous operators who have attempted to bring padel to The Roundhouse include We Are Padel and UK Padel Club.
Ollo Padel has said it hopes to bring the iconic Victorian building back into everyday use before the end of 2026, with five covered and four open courts.
The team also intends to offer free school coaching lessons, school partnerships, and inclusive programmes for women and children.
A seven minute walk from the city centre, the development is expected to create 14 permanent on-site roles, spanning coaching, front-of-house, hospitality and operations.
Leeds City Council has recommended that the application is deferred to the chief planning officer for approval at its meeting on Thursday.
