Leeds City Council staff released without charge
Three planning staff arrested on suspicion of corruption in relation to economic crime are no longer being investigated by West Yorkshire Police.
They will return to work with no disciplinary action to be taken.
Separately, three other former council workers who were arrested as part of the same investigation have left Leeds City Council.
This means that no one employed by the council is involved in the police inquiry going forward.
The investigation started with nine arrests made in November last year, which grew to 13 over time.
West Yorkshire police confirmed that 10 people remain under investigation,
A spokesperson for Leeds City Council said: âThree council staff arrested in November last year as part of an inquiry by West Yorkshire Police have returned to work after the force confirmed they are no longer under investigation.
âThree other staff arrested in connection with the inquiry have now left the council. All three had been suspended since their arrests.
âThis means that no one currently employed by the council is being investigated as part of the inquiry.
âWe can assure the public that we are absolutely committed to ensuring that all our staff adhere to the highest standards of professional and personal conduct.
âIn line with our commitment to transparency, earlier this year we asked central governmentâs Planning Advisory Service to undertake an independent review of the general running and performance of our planning and enforcement services.
âA recently-completed report detailing the findings of the PAS review said there is confidence in the role that âcontrols and governanceâ play in the operation of both services.
“The report further stated that the services deliver âhigh-quality outcomes for the cityâ and have âexperienced and dedicated staffâ who are âprofessionally ledâ.â
