Hull launches next stage of Local Plan consultation
The council is inviting residents, businesses, landowners, and other stakeholders to help determine the priorities that will shape the city’s development over the next 15 years.
The six-week consultation, which opens on 15 July, builds on an earlier engagement exercise that gathered views on the city’s long-term aspirations.
The latest stage asks participants to identify which issues should take priority, with themes including climate change, housing, healthcare, and economic opportunity.
The revised Local Plan will replace Hull’s current plan, adopted in 2017, reflecting changes across the city over the past eight years and providing the framework for future decisions on housing, employment, transport, and environmental policy.
Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, Hull City Council’s portfolio holder for economic renewal and housing, said the consultation would play a key role in ensuring the plan reflects local priorities: “The Local Plan will directly affect the lives of everyone in Hull for many years to come.
“The ideas and opinions of the public are crucial to shaping the new Local Plan to ensure we meet the priorities of those in our city.”
The council will host a series of engagement events during the consultation period, beginning with the Water & Coasts Community Event at the University of Hull’s Brynmor Jones Library on 16 July.
The consultation closes on 26 August, after which the council will consider the feedback as it prepares the next draft of the Local Plan.
