First affordable homes handed over at Leeds regeneration site
Gleeson has transferred the properties to housing association Home Group at the Waterloo Sidings development in Halton Moor, marking a milestone in the delivery of a 147-property scheme.
Home Group now manages the first 11 properties, as part of a partnership that will see 47 affordable homes delivered across the 16-acre brownfield site.
Waterloo Sidings in Leeds is a former railway goods sidings site and was designed by Leeds-based Edward Architects. Gleeson started on site in January 2025, at the same time as it initiated Danum Glade in Doncaster, a former colliery site that will comprise 333 homes across 40 acres.
Waterloo Sidings is Gleeson Homes’ first partnerships scheme, with the developer saying the project marked the beginning of its expansion into the partnerships housing sector.
The affordable homes have been integrated throughout the development, which will comprise a mix of two-, three-, and four-bedroom properties.
All homes at the development are fitted with air source heat pumps as standard in a move to support lower-carbon living.
