And finally… the pub calls
One of Yorkshire’s oldest inns, the Rose & Crown Hotel in the Wensleydale village of Bainbridge, has been put on the market for £550,000.
Agent Ernest Wilson is charged with finding a buyer. The hotel dates back to 1445 and in its current iteration has 11 bedrooms, an 85-seat restaurant, three bars, and – apparently – the potential for ghosts.
The former coaching inn comes with the option to acquire an additional seven-acre plot of land that runs down to the banks of the River Ure.
Located on the village green, the Rose & Crown comes with plenty of original features, including stone-flagged flooring and timber ceiling beams.
Mark Czajka, director at Ernest Wilson, said: “Not surprisingly, we have had a great deal of interest from potential buyers – business opportunities like the Rose & Crown, which is the epitome of a historic Yorkshire pub and hotel, certainly don’t come along very often.”
The aforementioned ghosts were unavailable for comment.
