New £7m Aldi touted for Eastfield

The food retailer is looking to add to the shopping options in Scarborough with a store on vacant land on Cayton Low Road.

Designed by The Harris Partnership, the shop will have a sales area of approximately 13,000 sq ft, and will, says the retailer, bring the site back into productive use and improve the ‘limited’ food choice within the local area.

A virtual consultation process is underway, with comments welcomed until 19 June via www.aldiconsultation.co.uk/eastfield, after which Aldi will submit a planning application to North Yorkshire Council.

The site used to be a driving test centre, and is not allocated for any specific use in the Scarborough Local Plan.

As well as the store itself, plans include a 105-space car park with six EV chargers, and landscaping.
