Watson Batty builds senior team

John Nall has joined the Leeds architecture group, which said his involvement in prestige build-to-rent schemes would boost the practice.

Nall has spent the last six years with Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher.

Watson Batty, which is trading 10% ahead of its 2023-24 turnover target, said that Nall’s involvement with schemes that have seen around 2,000 BTR homes delivered in Leeds over the last four years, adds to its residential design proposition.

Recent project wins for the firm, which also has a Loughborough base, include educational facilities with Tilbury Douglas and ISG, as well as further successes with Algeco via the Modern Methods of Construction framework.

The later living and care sector continues to expand through clients Exemplar and Torsion, whilst recent leisure sector successes include new build projects in Goole and Caerphilly.

Managing director Peter White said: “Our ongoing success is reward for our commitment to investment in new talent over the past few years that has placed us in such a strong position.

“We are acutely aware of the rapidly changing agenda for the built environment, not least through sustainability and net zero carbon commitments, and this has been our primary, future focused approach for clients.”

Long-standing clients of the 45-year old firm also include AtkinsRealis, Countryside Partnerships, Esh Construction, Exemplar Healthcare, Royal Mail, Skipton Properties, Speller Metcalfe Malvern, Wharfedale Homes, Wm Morrison Supermarkets and Yorkshire Housing.

New clients include Helm Developments, Morgan Sindall Construction, Torsion Care, Willmott Dixon and Zuka.
