Rula looks to unlock Durham Lane industrial plot
The developer was appointed by Stockton-on-Tees to bring forward a 54-acre site in Eaglescliffe last year, and now the council is set to approve the initial phase of the project.
The hybrid application includes a full application for earthworks and an outline application for future development.
AJA Architects and ID Planning have supported the project, led by Stockton council, which purchased the land in 2021, and Rula, which submitted the application in April.
The full application includes the creation of part of an internal estate road, earthworks to fix the site’s levels and create development plateaus, and associated drainage and utilities works.
Once these works have been completed, the site will be marketed for future occupiers to come forward, which is where the outline application for 775,000 sq ft of industrial buildings comes in.
The site is already allocated for employment use in the Local Plan, and is within the Durham Lane Industrial Park, near Eaglescliffe Railway Station.
The recommendation is to approve, to allow the land to be unlocked for development.
