Danum plots 120-home estate for Market Weighton
PB Planning has submitted the application to East Riding, for land owned by the developer at York Road.
Outline permission was granted in July last year, and now specific details include a mixed-use development with the homes, employment and commercial space, 30 garages, 36,000 sq ft of open space, and as per an S106 agreement, the delivery of 70 (58%) affordable housing.
Danum Homes is seeking grant funding to make that condition viable, and in talks with a registered provider which will manage the houses on completion.
The open space has been divided between an area at the entrance to the site next to the employment zone, and a larger area of greenspace located next to the public space provided within the adjacent Persimmon development, so as to increase the size for residents.
The housebuilder expects to start on site within six months of planning being approved, and build at a rate of 30 homes per year, resulting in a four-year construction period.
The housing mix proposed is one- to four-bed homes, with most of the houses having two or three bedrooms.

Market Weighton has seen hundreds of new builds in the last few years, as well as the Danum Homes, Persimmon Homes are about to build 193 homes (Bradley Park) We do not need another 120 houses in Market Weighton it does not have the infrastructure in place to support this many houses. People moving into all the new housing developments seem to be from outsiders looking to buy cheap houses and not supporting or adding anything to the community. They have been pricing the local people out of the market for years. My daughter could not afford to buy a house in Market Weighton (where she was born) and has had to move away. Plus 120 houses means around 120-240 extra cars on the A1079 to York/Hull road.
