Dakota York set for greenlight
Evans Property Group’s high-end offering will come before York council this week, looking to transform the site of a vacant office building into a 140-bedroom, eight-storey hotel.
O’Neill Associates, architect KPP, CBRE, and heritage consultant Montague Evans worked on the scheme, which is located in the city centre within the York walls.
A five minute walk from the station, the 0.7 acre site is surrounded by homes and offices.
Evans applied for permission for the scheme last November.
The current building, Northern House, will be demolished. The seven-storey, 79,000 sq ft office block was built in the 1970s and refurbished in 2006.
Dakota York will front Rougier Street, and include a car park, drop-off area, and landscaping and the ground floor of the hotel will house a reception, bar, restaurant, and back-of-house functions.
Above, the seven floors will provide the bedrooms, with one accessible room on each floor.
Dakota York will be the fourth site for the brand, following Leeds, Manchester, and the recently opened Newcastle branches.
