Harworth completes construction of Olive Lane
Waverley’s high street is now ready for businesses to move in for fit-out and will be open to the public from March.
The first store to open will be Tesco, followed by Specsavers, Little Olives day nursery, Karobar Indian restaurant, and a vets over the coming months.
A GP surgery and community centre funded by the developer will also open in due course, with Waverley Community Council using the centre as its base.
Harworth has also funded the six-classroom expansion of Waverley Junior Academy, currently under construction, and a 20-acre green space called Highwall Park is being developed and will open later this year.
More homes continue to be built throughout the 740-acre development, and a Marriott hotel will open in the latter half of this year.
Built on the former Orgreave Colliery, Waverley is a community of more than 1,700 homes, a primary school, and the Advanced Manufacturing Park.
Peter Massie, senior development manager at Harworth, said: “This is an exciting year at Waverley – there’s lots happening across the development and the opening of Olive Lane to the community is a real highlight.
“Harworth has focused on creating a vibrant place that meets the needs of those living and working at Waverley. It will be great to see the high street come to life over the next few months, and for the community to start using the new amenities.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming more businesses to Olive Lane. There are some additional commercial units available for occupation.”
