Superdry comes to Sheffield city centre

Following its recent departure from Meadowhall shopping centre, the fashion brand is moving into a 5,200 sq ft unit on Pinstone Street in the Heart of the City development.

The former Weekday store will now undergo a fit-out with an opening date set for 3 July.

Heart of the City is Sheffield City Council’s flagship city-centre regeneration project, a roughly £470m mixed-use redevelopment covering around 17 acres between Pinstone Street, The Moor, Devonshire Quarter, and Barkers Pool.

Delivered by Henry Boot, it was created to transform a large area of underused city-centre land into a district for work, living, shopping, leisure, and culture, and alongside retail space comprises around 500,000 sq ft of office space, attracting firms such as HSBC, CMS, and Turner & Townsend, as well as hundreds of apartments, Pounds Park, and hospitality venues such as The Radisson Blu.

Mark Williams, chairman of asset management company RivingtonHark said: “The addition of Superdry continues to add to the retail appeal of the city centre.

“This builds on recent office lettings of more than 150,000 sq ft in the city, but it’s not the end, with more businesses choosing to move into Sheffield due to be announced in the coming weeks and months.”

Sean McClean, director of regeneration and development at Sheffield Council, said: “It was and continues to be our ambition to attract high quality, internationally renowned brands to our Heart of the City development. With the addition of Superdry to our retail offering we are continuing to achieve that goal.

“The unit Superdry is moving into is one of the biggest within the project, marking a major sign of the confidence the business has in the Heart of the City and Sheffield City Centre as a whole.”

Julian Dunkerton, founder and chief executive of Superdry, said: “Sheffield is a fantastic city, and our new location on Pinstone Street gives us a real opportunity to bring the Superdry & Co format here and show customers what the brand stands for today.

“We’re also looking forward to building a great team locally and bringing new retail jobs into the city centre. There’s a lot happening around Heart of the City, and we’re delighted to be part of it.”

I’d rather shop in Meadowhall than here. Meadowhall is much nicer.
