Gleeson submits Wakefield plans

The homebuilder has lodged an application to build 73 houses and a railway station car park on former Fitzwilliam Colliery land.

The project team includes planning consultancy Peacock + Smith and Vista Architecture, and Gleeson has also worked with council policy officers during pre-application discussions.

The 5.5-acre parcel of land on Wentworth Terrace has previously been developed, but is currently vacant and mainly comprises two tarmac areas.

Plans include building two- and three-bed semi-detached, as well as three- and four-bed detached houses, all with two storeys.

Located next to Fitzwilliam railway station, the site has easy connections to Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster, and Sheffield.

Fitzwilliam is a former pit village built to provide housing for miners, and the land is allocated for residential development within the Local Plan.
