Banks updates 1,500-home Eggborough extension
The developer’s masterplan for the 173-acre site to the west of the village has been amended following discussions with North Yorkshire Council, with updated access arrangements.
DLA Architecture and planner Lichfields are working on the project, which was first proposed in 2023.
The access arrangements originally submitted for Weeland Road have been changed into a single roundabout.
Changes have also been made to the landscaping of the development and to the internal road layout.
The proposals are due to come before the council before the end of the year, and will feature low carbon homes, a primary school, a nursery, retail units, public open space, and enhanced local transport routes.
Jamilah Hassan, community relations manager at the Banks Group, said: “We are looking to create a high quality, well-connected, and sustainable extension to Eggborough which will deliver a wide range of benefits to the local community, the local economy and the local environment.
“Since submitting our initial planning application, we’ve been working on the fine detail of our proposals in order to ensure we can maximise these benefits and have now submitted updated plans and assessments which we’re confident does just that.
“This site offers the opportunity to create a landmark development that will help Eggborough continue to thrive for decades to come and we are hopeful that we will be able to bring our plans for it before North Yorkshire Council’s planning committee before the end of the year.”
