GALLERY | Bruntwood reveals fresh West Village images

The developer has issued a teaser of how its first Pioneer project in Yorkshire will look when the 229,000 sq ft project is completed later this year.

The pictures outline how Bruntwood Works, the company’s workspace brand, sees West Village, currently known as the West One Estate, coming together around a feature courtyard.

The images show designs for co-working, café, communal lounge and workspace areas.

Pioneer is the £200m programme under which Bruntwood Works has upgraded several of its office holdings into more wellness-focused, sustainability-led developments.

The Alberton in Manchester, consented last year, is billed as a flagship Pioneer scheme, with Bloc in the same city and Liverpool’s Plaza among other Pioneer buildings.

Features of West Village will include a flexible event space and a new four-storey extension wrapped in plants and wildflowers, featuring two private terraces and roof gardens.

The 229,000 sq ft site will also feature innovative lighting concepts, art installations, a fitness studio and the largest cycle storage facility in the city.

It is intended to house a wide range of enterprises, potentially ranging from hot desking entrepreneurs to high growth businesses and multinationals. Retail units along Wellington Street will also be enhanced as part of the project.

Ciara Keeling, chief executive of Bruntwood Works, said: “West Village Leeds comes at an exciting time for the city, which has the fastest growing economy in Yorkshire.

“This is the kind of ambitious, innovative development that Leeds deserves, and I’m confident it will quickly become an in-demand destination for collaboration and creativity, and a new landmark for the region. Situated in close proximity to Leeds train station and the city’s Innovation Arc, West Village will be the perfect hub for ambitious businesses and the community to flourish.

“We’re blending the indoors with the outdoors, creating healthy spaces that support flexible new ways of working and prioritise wellbeing. This significant investment is a mark of Bruntwood’s commitment to Yorkshire and it’s already receiving much interest from potential customers of all sizes. I can’t wait for the city to see the pioneering destination we have created.”
