Avant lodges £37m Barnsley plans
The housebuilder has exchanged contracts on a 12-acre site in Barugh Green, and intends to build a 155-home development on the land.
Located on Barugh Green Road, the proposed housing mix is made up of one- to five-bedroom properties, split across 14 different house types.
The homes would form part of the Barnsley West masterplan, which will see the council deliver around 1,700 new homes across the region.
If given the go ahead by Barnsley Council, work on site is set to commence in April 2026, with the first residents expected to move in by November 2026.
Avant Homes is no stranger to Barnsley, with other sites including a 104-home scheme in Great Houghton, 300 homes in Thurnscoe village, and 179 homes either side of Smithywood Lane.
Managing director, Richard Hosie, said: “The site will provide practically designed, energy efficient homes suited to a wide range of buyers, whether they families, downsizers or first-time buyers.
“We now look forward to Barnsley Council considering our proposed plans to deliver a new thriving community which creates new homes for the Barugh Green area.”
