Green light for Wetherby homes

Persimmon’s plans for 129 homes on Sandbeck Lane have been given the go-ahead by Leeds City Council.

Supported by Johnson Mowat, the scheme will be located on 20 acres next to Taylor Wimpey’s 762-home development at Swinnow Park.

The housing mix will range from apartments to two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom houses.

A total of 46 will be affordable, with the housebuilder planning to transfer ownership to a local housing association for social rent and shared ownership.

Located off Racecourse Way and to the east of Wetherby, the scheme will include new footpaths and cycle links as well as an on-site play area.

An ecological management scheme will be established within Sandbeck Wood.

James Parkin, Persimmon West Yorkshire land director, said: “We’re delighted these plans for high-quality, new homes in Wetherby have been approved.

“We have been working closely with residents, councillors and the Better Wetherby Partnership and Wetherby Civic Society to make sure the views of the community were reflected in our plans put forward to councillors.

“New homes are needed and we are committed to delivering energy efficient homes that suit the needs of the community.”
