Resi ambitions for Hull Debenhams

Developer DBG Group is looking to convert the upper floors of the 180,000 sq ft former department store into apartments.

HMS Town Planning & Urban Design has submitted an application looking to replace the windows of the building, stating that ‘the most feasible use of the site would be either complete residential or residential in part.’

Currently, the single-glazed timber-framed windows do not meet habitable thermal or energy-efficient requirements, and the application states DBG wants to replace them with double-glazed UPVC.

DBG has been contacted for further details.

The building on Prospect Street has stood vacant since 2021, with part of it falling within the Paragon Conservation Area, the commercial and retail core of Hull City Centre that evolved during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Given its location in the PCA, the windows will be replaced with visually like-for-like versions.
