Study Inn eyes up York for next PBSA
The shortage of student accommodation in the city is well-known, and the demand for grade A facilities does not appear to be slowing down as the student accommodation specialist lodges plans for a 110-bed, four-storey block at 5 James Street.
This proposal includes plans for an on-site health spa, gym, and games room, with bedrooms divided between studio rooms and shared cluster apartments comprising six bedrooms, a communal kitchen, and living room each.
Bedrooms would be on the upper three floors, with the residential amenities on ground level.
The project team consists of Cunniff Design, Vista Planning, landscape architect Quartet Design, civil engineer Tier Consult, sustainability advisor Enevo, The Transportation Consultancy, Red Acoustics, and archaeology advice from Brindle & Green.
This would be Study Inn’s second development in Yorkshire, following the completion of its 385-bedroom Brotherton House in Leeds in March.
The site is currently occupied by a motorcycle showroom, which would be demolished to make way for the city’s latest PBSA offering.
The scheme would be located close to Urbium Capital and Harrogate-based Gregory Properties 131-bed, £17m PBSA on neighbouring Foss Islands Road, currently being constructed by GMI and on track to complete by September 2026.
