Rother Valley steels itself
Kier Construction has erected the metal framework for the 150-seat lakeside café at the country park, part of a series of £7.4m improvements being invested into the leisure area.
Plans also include 134-space overflow car park and a kids play area.
Work started on site in October last year but delays were incurred following revisions to the budget ‘as a result of the impact of inflation and the volatile national and international construction market.’
Following this, some aspects of the approved scheme were removed, such as a landscaped events space, a riverside walk, and the relocation of the cycle centre to a more prominent position.
The plans are funded through the Government’s levelling up scheme.
Dan Doherty, regional director for Kier Construction North and Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be delivering improvements to the facilities at Rother Valley Country Park.
“The new visitor centre will provide a fantastic space for local communities to come together to explore and enjoy the great outdoors, enhancing the overall experience for everyone who visits.”
