Harrogate Town to build £2.75m Wetherby training ground
The football club has chosen the racecourse in the West Yorkshire town as the location for its first permanent base, ending a five-year search for a suitable location.
The League Two club has bee on the lookout for a home for its training facilities since being promoted to the English Football League in 2020.
Plans include both a grass and artificial pitch, a single-storey clubhouse, and parking, and would be funded by the club on land owned by Wetherby Racecourse.
The club, which is owned by Irving Weaver, chairman of Strata Homes, intends the training ground to also be used by the local community, such as local schools and sports clubs.
Currently, the team use ad-hoc training facilities across the region.
A public consultation is being held at 5pm, on 17 July at Wetherby Town Hall, following which a planning application will be submitted to Leeds City Council.
