The mixed-use land and property acquisition is next to the hotel’s existing estate and while specific developments have not yet been confirmed, the deal ensures the spa destination can expand its operations in the future.

Grantley Hall opened in 2019 and has since racked up a number of accolades, joining The Leading Hotels of the World club last year and more recently being named Independent Hotel of the Year.

The 47-room five-star establishment in Ripon was built in 1680 and has been a stately home, a wartime convalescent unit, and an adult education college.

Privately owned by Valeria Sykes since 2015, the most recent addition to the portfolio is Grantley Arms, a country pub unveiled last summer. The 25,000 sq ft spa comprises a steam room, sauna, multiple treatment rooms and wellness areas, and an 18-metre swimming pool.

Richard Sykes, managing director of Grantley Hall, said: “Grantley Hall has always been defined by a sense of space, freedom and escape. A place where guests can experience something genuinely exceptional.

“This acquisition gives us the opportunity to think far more ambitiously about the future of the estate and how we continue to evolve the guest experience for generations to come.

“It creates the foundation for long-term growth, greater flexibility, and the ability to shape new experiences that strengthen Grantley Hall’s position as a leading luxury destination.”
