East Yorkshire leisure project enters final construction stage
The £16m redevelopment of East Riding Leisure Goole is nearing completion, with Willmott Dixon carrying out finishing, testing, and commissioning works ahead of the centre’s planned opening in late 2026.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council appointed Willmott Dixon through the YORbuild3 framework to deliver the Goole Hub, designed by Watson Batty Architects. The scheme is supported by £3.372m from the £25m Goole Town Deal regeneration programme.
Building works are now being finalised across the site, with the external envelope largely complete and signage installed. Paving is also nearing completion, while landscaping works – including the installation of bollards and a cycle shelter – are due to take place over the next two weeks alongside the completion of outdoor surfaces.
Progress is also being made across the centre’s internal facilities.
The reception area and Dockyard Bowl bowling alley are nearing completion, while works on the Salt and Pepper Playport soft play and Ninja Tag gamified obstacle course are complete.
Handrails and grills have been installed at the base of the learner pool ahead of filling, while new flumes imported from America have arrived for the main swimming pool and are almost fully installed.
The changing village and health suite are also approaching completion, with final fittings being installed and tiling now transforming the steam room.
The redevelopment will also include a refurbished café, gym and spin studio, with LED lighting and audio/visual equipment being installed.
