Breck acquires Leeds brownfield site for 43 affordable homes

The Yorkshire-based developer has completed the unconditional purchase of the site on Arthur Street from Redstart Robinson, which gained permission for the project in February last year.

The site forms part of the former Infinity Metals recycling centre and has been vacant since 2023.

Located in Stanngingley, proposals comprise a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and two- and three-bedroom houses.

Breck is currently in discussions with affordable housing providers to acquire the completed development.

The developer will now undertake a public consultation with local stakeholders ahead of submitting a detailed planning application to Leeds City Council.

Nigel Robson, managing director – Yorkshire, Breck Homes said: “This acquisition is the next step of our growth journey in Yorkshire as we continue to transform areas of high-demand through affordable housing.

“The development of brownfield sites such as this plays a key role in addressing West Yorkshire’s housing need.

“We want to ensure our scheme maximises the benefits for all residents in the local community, so we will now take the time to engage with all local stakeholders before submitting plans formally.”

The scheme is Breck’s sixth development in Yorkshire, with the company also working with affordable housing provider Incommunities on three live sites in Bradford, totalling 107 homes.

Breck also secured planning permission in August for 120 affordable homes at the former Lloyds data and contact centre in Pudsey and expects construction to begin later this year.

The company has also completed the unconditional purchase of a four-acre site in East Bierley, where it plans to deliver around 70 affordable homes.
