Trio of upsizes for Meadowhall
JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers have all signed new deals at the Sheffield shopping destination, totalling 42,000 sq ft.
Meadowhall was last year taken into the sole ownership of Norwegian investor Norges Investment Bank in a deal valuing the centre at around £734m. Although British Land is no longer co-owner, it remains as asset manager.
All of the action is taking place on the Lower Level High Street, with JD nearly trebling its presence by taking five adjacent units to create a 29,000 sq ft space.
Opening in 2026, the store will have a 63m frontage and dedicated brand and product areas for brands such as Nike, Adidas, and The North Face.
Superdrug is relocating to a 10,000 sq ft store, one of its largest in the country, in late May.
As well as retail, shoppers will also be able to have in-store beauty treatments such as ear piercing and eye-brow threading.
Ann Summer is upsizing to a 3,000 sq ft unit.
Richard Crowther, retail leasing director at British Land, said: “Meadowhall continues to attract strategic investment from leading national and international brands.
“JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers are the latest tenants to recommit to the destination, following 26 retailers that invested over £30m in their stores in the last 12 months.
“These substantial lease agreements will only elevate Meadowhall’s Lower High Street, as part of a centre that really dominates its region.”
