SYMCA funding supports £19m Rolls-Royce Rotherham expansion
The aerospace and defence company is channeling the funding towards doubling output at its specialised Advanced Blade Casting Facility, located at Harworth’s flagship Advanced Manufacturing Park.
A £2m grant from South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is supporting a £19.3m investment by Rolls-Royce to fund additional specialist equipment, enabling the facility to double output by 2030 while improving productivity.
Reinforcing the AMP’s role as a key advanced manufacturing cluster in South Yorkshire, the ABCF produces advanced turbine blades for Rolls-Royce jet engines to power long haul aircraft, including the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Opened in 2015, the plant employs more than 300 people and undertakes casting, machining, and inspection processes for components used in long-haul aircraft engines.
