Sweeting leaves AY for Maddox
After 16 years at Avison Young, starting as graduate and finishing as director, David Sweeting has joined the Leeds office of Maddox Planning to push into the Yorkshire market.
David Maddox, founder of Maddox Planning, said: “David brings considerable experience of the Yorkshire development market as well as the relationships and local knowledge that come from working in the region over a sustained period.
“We have a long history of working on development across the North West, and David’s appointment gives us the opportunity to build on that track record by establishing a permanent senior presence in the North.
“We see significant potential across the Northern development market, but our immediate focus is on building a strong Yorkshire practice around David’s experience, relationships and knowledge of the region.
“Our approach has always been to combine detailed planning knowledge with commercially grounded advice. David shares that approach and I’m looking forward to working with him as we develop the next stage of Maddox Planning’s growth.”
Sweeting’s experience includes advising on major development and regeneration projects across Yorkshire, including York Central and Yorkshire Energy Park.
Sweeting, who started in past last week, said: “There is a lot happening across the region, from major regeneration and housing delivery to changes in local plans, devolution and the wider planning system. The growing role of the region’s mayors is also shaping priorities for investment, infrastructure and development. For clients, that creates opportunities, but also a need for clear planning advice that understands both the local context and the commercial realities of development.
“I’m looking forward to reconnecting with existing contacts, developing new relationships and building a strong Maddox Planning presence in the Northern market.”
