Silverstone completes latest Inn Collection job

A 40-week construction programme has been concluded at an Edwardian hotel formerly known as the Ripon Spa Hotel.

Rebranded as the Ripon Inn by owner the Inn Collection Group, 18 additional bedrooms have been created, with Silverstone Building Consultancy working as project manager and contract administrator.

Silverstone was responsible for overseeing all the works and appointing the full professional team which included principal contractor STP Construction, architect and interior designer Design North, M&E consultant JCP Consulting Engineers and structural and civil engineer Maughan Reynolds.

The project included external works, and also involved a major upgrade of its public rooms including a ballroom, terrace bar and self-contained Turf Tavern Bar Bistro, the name a nod to the nearby racecourse.

Set in six acres of gardens, the 58-bed inn, which is set in six acres of gardens, has had a new kitchen and specialist broiler grill installed.

The property, which closed in summer 2020 and was acquired by its new owners in 2021, has now reopened to the public.

As well as the racecourse, nearby attractions include Lightwater Valley, Fountains Abbey and Newby Hall.

Richard Farrey, lead director at Silverstone Building Consultancy, said: “Cohesive teamwork was absolutely vital to delivering this renovation on time and on budget. This is the fifth refurbishment we have managed for The Inn Collection Group.

“We were involved from the very start – from preparing pre-tender estimates, managing the necessary planning permissions, to appointing the professional team, to overseeing the works through to completion. We are very pleased to be an ongoing, reliable partner for the Group and their ambitious trajectory for their hotel chain.”

Louise Stewart, property director at The Inn Collection Group, added: “We’re really happy with how this renovation has turned out. The hotel has been sympathetically restored in the proven style of The Inn Collection Group and will be a great asset to the UK’s third smallest, but perfectly-formed city.”

Silverstone Building Consultancy, a firm of chartered building surveyors and project managers with offices in Leeds and Newcastle, has previously managed the restoration of a number of hotels within the Inn Collection Group’s portfolio, including the St George Hotel in Harrogate.
