Pescado Lounge opens in Whitby
Expanding café bar group Loungers has launched in the North Yorkshire coastal town, having taken over at the former Star Inn site at Dock End.
Loungers has overhauled the site, formerly home to a Michelin star. In its trademark style. A ‘shell grotto’ mural decorates the back bar.
In line with the group’s MO, Pescado Lounge is intended to cater for all tastes around the clock with a varied all-day menu.

Growing organically through the first decade of the 2000s, Loungers has accelerated since bringing in private equity investment, initially in 2012 through Piper, which exited in 2016 with Lion Capital taking a majority stake in a £137m deal.
As well as opening Lounge venues in towns and cities across the country, the business operates Cosy Club venues in “destination” cities, and has also launched a venture into the roadside diner segment with Brightside.
Gemma Irwin, community manager at Loungers, said: “Our Lounges strive to put community at the heart of hospitality and our teams always go the extra mile to make a difference.
“They are actively encouraged to connect with their communities by working with local groups, charities, organisations and businesses that are at the heart of the fabric of local life. We are very much looking forward to welcoming local residents to Pescado Lounge.”
