Persimmon secures Normanton approval
The housebuilder’s plans for 307 homes was approved by Wakefield on Friday.
The housing mix will range from bungalows to two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes, 31 of which will be affordable.
The development will also include six plots to be made available for self/custom build, and all homes will be fitted with EV chargers and air source heat pumps.
Persimmon applied for permission in July 2024 to build on 37 acres of land in the West Yorkshire town, with the plot made up of three fields separated by hedgerows.
Located to the western edge of Normanton, a care home and residential development sit to the east and south east of the site, with the north and west boundaries made up of trees and plants.
The site sits in between land designated for housing and Green Belt land, with the town centre located to the north east and Normanton Rail Station approximately 1.5km away.
Public open green spaces will be provided on the site.
James Parkin, Persimmon West Yorkshire Land Director, said: “We’re delighted these plans for new, high-quality homes have been approved.
“This site is allocated for housing in the Wakefield Local Plan and will provide a great mix of new homes for local homebuyers.
“Build to the latest regulations, the site will deliver energy efficient homes set amongst significant areas of public open spaces for residents to enjoy.”
