Leeds to consider next phase of East Leeds Extension
A joint application for 357 homes by developers Evans Homes and Vistry Group will be discussed at the council’s next planning meeting, as part of the next steps for the 5,000 house scheme skirting the city.
Documents submitted by JRP, the architect and urban landscape designer on the project, and ID Planning show that phase 1A would comprise 231 homes built by Bovis Homes, part of Vistry, and phase 1B will have 126 built by Evans.
The proposals are for a mix of houses and flats, from one- to four-bed properties, made up of detached, semi-detached, and three-storey apartment blocks.
Located in the Whinmoor Fields section of the overall ELE masterplan, access to the development would include creating a spine road from the newly built 7.5km East Leeds Orbital Route, which connects the area from Red Hall all around the eastern side of Leeds, through to Thorpe Park at junction 46 of the M1.
Another spine road running fom east-west would connect the estate with existing and future developments within the ELE.
Plans for the scheme include footways and cycle paths to connect through to other housing estates and greenspaces around the site, which contain play areas.
Further information about this part of the ELE can be found by searching on Leeds’ planning portal using the reference 23/04319/RM.
