Lambson Innovate relocates to 65,000 sq ft Normanton Industrial Estate unit
The British manufacturer has expanded its Yorkshire operations after agreeing a new five-year lease at Towngate’s business park in Wakefield.
The move sees Lambson relocate from its previous 23,700 sq ft premises at Treefields Industrial Estate in Gildersome, which it had occupied for more than six years.
The new facility at Loscoe Close is located around 10 minutes from the company’s main operating site and will allow the business to bring importing, container handling and customs clearance operations in-house for the first time.
Lambson manufactures precision-engineered products for the leisure, marine, and construction sectors, producing large volumes of made-to-order components from its West Yorkshire operations and employing more than 100 people across the region, and is expected to be fully operational from the new premises by the end of May 2026.
Ahead of the occupation, Towngate invested more than £1m in refurbishing the Normanton facility. The programme of works included a full reroofing project, replacement roller shutter doors, warehouse redecoration, office and welfare upgrades, and wider external improvements tailored to the occupier’s operational needs.
Unit E at Loscoe Close provides industrial and distribution accommodation with a 9.1m eaves height, seven dock-level loading doors, secure service yards, LED warehouse lighting and two-storey office space.
Normanton Industrial Estate is home to several major logistics and distribution occupiers including Asda, Royal Mail, DHL, Haribo, and Argos.
David Bean, managing director of Lambson Innovate, said: “Bringing our importing, container handling, and customs processes in-house will make our supply chain more efficient and resilient, and the additional space gives us room to extend new manufacturing processes onto a second site. Having worked with Towngate for more than six years, they were the natural partner for our next phase of growth.
“As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, this move provides the capability to grow market share, enter new markets, and continue investing in smarter ways to serve our customers.”
Tom Lamb, property director at Towngate plc, added: “Lambson Innovate is exactly the kind of business we love supporting – a long-established British manufacturer with a clear growth plan.
“After six successful years together at Gildersome, it was a privilege to be the landlord they turned to when they needed to expand. Investing in the refurbishment of Loscoe Close to their specification was a straightforward decision, and a reflection of where the industrial market is heading: quality, energy-efficient space delivered by landlords who can move quickly to meet occupier needs.”
