GoCardless adds to Leeds’ financial cluster
The bank payment company has picked the city to be its Northern hub, taking space for 50 employees in Bruntwood SciTech’s West Village.
The move aligns with the UK government’s Financial Services Growth and Competitiveness Strategy, designed to make the UK the number one destination for financial services businesses, and adds to the growing cluster of finance companies setting up home in Leeds.
Long-established financial institutions in the city include Leeds Building Society, Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), plus other fintech companies such as Pexa, LHV UK, and Microsoft.
Scheduled to open later this year, the Leeds office will have 50 employees in the first 12 months, before GoCardless scales up in the coming years.
This replicates the company’s model of hub offices in London and Riga.
