Work starts on Avant’s 104-home Great Houghton site
The £23.5m Houghton Place scheme is located on High Street in the Barnsley village, with the first homes expected to complete by summer next year.
Approximately 8km east of Barnsley town centre, the site is surrounded by other residential sites to the south and west and fields to the north and east.
The housebuilder submitted plans for the scheme in January last year, and during the course of the application has reduced the number of homes from 108 to 104 dwellings, made internal layout changes, and amended internal and external road designs as a result of the consultation responses received.
Harron Homes previously submitted a planning application for the site in 2021.
The housing mix will be made up of 14 house types, comprising two-storey, one- to four-bed homes, of which 10% will be affordable.
